A “need” and the subsequent quest to find a sustainable solution paved the way to our journey. We prefer calling our journey as a ‘movement’ – A MOVEMENT LED BY A WOMAN TO EMPOWER OTHER WOMEN.
How we evolved ....
It all started when our Founder saw history repeating itself as her teenage daughter carried a long sleeved jacket to wrap around her waist as a protective barrier to hide any unexpected stains from the overly critical eyes. While a long sleeved jacket continues to be an integral part of the so-called Period Hacks, she realized nothing has really changed except for the years gone by.
she knew there ought to be a better way....
She never stopped asking “WHY?” because she believed that the power is in the Question. She knew there ought to be a better way, not only for herself and her teenage daughter but also for half of the world’s population who menstruate nearly half of their lifetime. She came across numerous women who shared mortifying period-leak stories and how the stigma and the mind-set surrounding menstruation made them so uncomfortable and embarrassed following a leak incident. She recognized that the anxiety of public embarrassment caused by leaks and stains were adding to the menstrual woes and deterring many women from being their ‘best selves’.
'necessity' became impetus....
Although “rewriting” the dominant negative menstruation narrative was much easier said than done; still she was determined to do her part. Advancements in Tech had changed every realm but a huge void was observed in menstrual products and functional garments that would make periods less awkward by way of combating leaks and stains. Unable to find what would fit her criteria of an ideal leak-proof garment, the ‘necessity’ to create one became impetus for our sustainably functional design-innovation and solution.
TURNING IDEAS INTO REALITY....
Being a woman, a mum of a teenage girl and an end-user herself, she knew exactly the consumer needs and expectations from a range of period-proof garments and leak-proof apparel. And then, months of research to find a perfect blend of fabric, hundreds of hand-sketched drawings, numerous consultation with garment designers, repeated cycles of designing, prototyping, testing and refining multiple iterations at last paid off as we launched our Brand “URBAN NESSENTIALS” offering exclusive-range of SUSTAINABLY FUNCTIONAL GARMENTS having a unique blend of comfort, style and ultimate leak protection.
On our pursuit....
Our journey has just begun with a reinforced mission to raise awareness and innovate solutions to impart women a stain-free, stress-free, carefree experience right from puberty through to post-menopause and every phase in between. And, as we embark on this journey, we envision our actions changing lives, transforming mind-sets and pushing boundaries.
