A “need” and the subsequent quest to find a sustainable solution paved the way to our journey. We prefer calling our journey a ‘movement’ – A MOVEMENT LED BY A WOMAN TO EMPOWER OTHER WOMEN.
How we evolved ....
It all started when our Founder saw a familiar scene unfold — her teenage daughter wrapping a long-sleeved jacket around her waist to discreetly cover up any unexpected stains from the overly critical eyes. It was a classic move, one she herself had relied on years ago, a time-tested “Period Hack” passed down through generations. In that moment, she realized that while the world had moved on in so many ways, when it came to period-proof garments, nothing had really changed except for the years gone by.
she knew there ought to be a better way....
She never stopped asking “Why?” — because she believed there’s power in the question. Deep down, she knew there had to be a better way, not just for herself or her daughter, but for half the world’s population who menstruate for nearly half their lives.
Along the way, she listened to countless women share their own mortifying period-leak stories — tales marked by shame, discomfort, and the ever-present fear of judgment. It became clear, the stigma around menstruation and the anxiety around leaks were adding to the menstrual woes and deterring many women from being their ‘best selves’.
'necessity' became impetus....
Although “rewriting” the dominant negative menstruation narrative was much easier said than done, she was still determined to do her part. While technology had transformed nearly every aspect of our lives, menstrual products and functional garments had largely been left behind. There was a glaring gap — a lack of thoughtful, effective solutions that could make periods less awkward by actually addressing leaks and stains head-on. Unable to find what would fit her criteria of an ideal leak-proof period garment, the necessity to create one became the spark. That’s what led to our journey of sustainable, functional design innovation — and a solution born out of real need.
TURNING IDEAS INTO REALITY....
As a woman, a mother to a teenage girl, and an end-user herself, she understood — deeply and personally — what consumers truly needed and expected from absorbent period-proof and leak-resistant apparel. What followed were months of meticulous research to find the perfect fabric blend, hundreds of hand-sketched designs, numerous consultation with garment designers, repeated cycles of designing, prototyping, testing and refining multiple iterations. Every stitch, every seam, every detail was thoughtfully crafted — not just to protect against leaks, but to empower those who wear it. At last, the hard work paid off as we launched our Brand “URBAN NESSENTIALS” offering an exclusive range of SUSTAINABLY FUNCTIONAL GARMENTS having a unique blend of comfort, style, and ultimate leak protection.
On our pursuit....
Our journey has just begun with a reinforced mission to raise awareness and innovate solutions to impart women a stain-free, stress-free, carefree experience right from puberty through to post-menopause and every phase in between. And, as we embark on this journey, we envision our actions changing lives, transforming mind-sets and pushing boundaries.
